1100 Lawyers Quit Saddam’s Defense

By: Lance Winslow

Saddam Hussein is on trial for alleged misdeeds, torture and mass murdering while dictator of Iraq. Already his lawyers have indicated that during the time of these atrocities, he was in charge and had his own set of laws and that those laws allowed him to do those things? He denies the existence of this court and trial because he says he is still the legitimate ruler of Iraq and that the United States came and removed him from power over International Law.

He started with 1500 and then some were killed. There is still much hostility towards the former dictator from those families who lost loved ones who were slaughtered. But not all his lawyers were killed only a few so far, although those who seek revenge for the deaths and torture would like to kill all his 1492 lawyers, which had not been killed. A few were injured very badly and the latest one injured fears for his life and he and many others have left the country.

Seeing this approximately 1100 Lawyers have quit the job of defending Saddam Hussein and now some wonder if Saddam Hussein can get a fair trial in Iraq now, as he only has just under 400 Lawyers on his team now to defend him. Which may not be enough considering all the things he has done wrong. What do you think? Is 400 Lawyers enough to serve justice?
