2005 - The Year of the Human Dimension

Change is in the air and a growing sense for the need to approach our challenges in a different way. The time seems to be ripe for taking on the challenge of transition, transition leading towards the awakening of the leaders of society recognizing the power behind the Human Dimension.
Looking back at 2004 it becomes obvious that even doing fairly well economically, still means a downsizing in the number of available jobs taking place all over the country. Fewer jobs lead to less income leads to less real purchasing power leads to immense pressure on prices leads to enormous price cuts in order to stay competitive leads to desperate need of cost reduction leads to fewer jobs…a deadly down spiral for the economy in the end.
The awareness that this in the end will hurt the country and its economy much more than admitted is slowly becoming a factor in assessing the situation. Finally questions are asked if the things are done right, but even more important if the right things are done. What everybody wants is the turnaround of the economy producing not only more goods and services at an ever decreasing price, but producing more quality goods and services at a fair price for both, the customer and the supplier. And what’s really needed is an increasing number of available jobs thus broadening the customer basis and accelerating the demand.
Now thinking about this endeavor one will soon realize that there are two sides of the same coin: the exterior view and the interior view, the macro and the micro cosmos.
In the exterior view we have to deal with the Human Dimension in its macro state, i.e. we have to end the illusion that everything must come down in price every day, end this wrong expectation, cut the Gordian knot and thus finally produce more jobs at a fair pay! There is no other way around it, whether we accept it or not. It is about fair trade.
In the interior view we have to deal with Human Dimension in its micro state, learning to understand the Human Being as such and in its interaction with others. We have to deal with the fact that all human beings are constantly communicating, they have no choice by nature, and you cannot “not communicate”.
Human behavior is not governed by logic, rules, obligations, constraints and prohibitions; it rather is governed one hundred percent by feelings on an amazing number of different levels. The interaction between human beings thus is governed also by feelings and not by some imposed artificial rules. Human behavior cannot be controlled by strict orders as we become aware on a daily basis.
We need a complete shift of the mindset away from the “old processes” and towards embracing the incredible opportunities we have at our hands right in front of us, the awesome potential of the Human Dimension in creating lasting success, raising profits for everybody and steadily increasing the number of jobs.
