Al-Qaeda and Hurricane Katrina - an Unlikely Pair

It is sickening me to see that Al-Qaeda claims that Hurricane Katrina is the wrath of God against America for wrongs committed against Muslims. Al-Qaeda claims to hate Americans and other westerners because of some perceived wrongs they claim Westerners have committed against Muslims. Isn’t it ironic that Al-Qaeda got it’s start when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan? Wasn’t it the United States suppling arms and Aide to the Muslim Freedom fighters against the Soviets?
Isn’t recent history full of instances where the United States and other western powers came to the aide of Muslims? Wasn’t it a coalition led by America that stopped the Genocide of Muslims at the hands of the Serbs?
In 2004 when a tsunami devastated Indonesia and many other countries largely populated with Muslims wasn’t America one of the first countries to send aide. Didn’t many private US Citizens organize relief efforts and fund raisers to help these tsunami victims. No one looked at race or religion before deciding to send aide.
A few days ago an Earthquake struck Pakistan and was felt in Afghanistan, both known Al-Qaeda strong holds. This earthquake has caused more death and destruction and then Hurricane Katrina. What was the reaction of the US still struggling to rebuild New Orleans. They sent relief helicopters to help rescue people still trapped in the rubble left by this earthquake.
Would anyone be surprised if sometime over the next few weeks Al-Qaeda, USAMA BIN LADEN or some other Muslim extremist group commit an act of terrorism against one of these helicopter relief crews or some other international aide group?
It is truly unfortunate that extremist groups like Al-Qaeda exists to give otherwise good people a bad name.
