Anniversary Gifts - Fifth Anniversary
By: Michael Russell
Your fifth anniversary is kind of a milestone. It’s not quite ten, but it’s half way there. The traditional gift idea may not sound like much when you look at just the word itself, but when you think of all the things that are made from that one magical word, you’ll realize that there are a number of things that will come to your mind. And the modern gift idea will certainly give you a number of great choices as well. We’re going to take a brief look at both the modern and traditional gift ideas for your fifth wedding anniversary and hopefully something will actually sound good enough to go out and buy.
The traditional gift idea for a fifth anniversary is wood. While the mention of the word might bring up visions of a two by four, something you would only get for your spouse if he’s a wood worker, there are really a number of things that are made out of wood that are just perfect for an anniversary gift.
If you really want to make an impression on your spouse, some new wood furniture would be perfect. With so many rooms in the house to choose from, your selection of items is virtually unlimited. For example, maybe you’re in the market for a new coffee table for the living room. Or maybe you’re in desperate need of some new wood chairs for the dining room. And of course, if you’ve been collecting a number of audio appliances over the years, you might want to look into getting an entertainment center. All of these are excellent ideas that fit into the wood mold.
Of course, if furniture seems to obvious a gift, especially if you want your fifth anniversary gift to be a surprise, there are other things that are made out of wood. For example, you could get your spouse some nice pine scented candles surrounded by wood bark. Don’t worry, this is considered a perfectly acceptable gift. For you guys who are handy with a knife, you might want to make a wood carving for your wife. If not, you can always get some very nice wood carvings at certain specialty stores. And, if you’ve got a fireplace, you might want to get your husband some specially treated wood for that fireplace. They actually make wood that burns in some beautiful colors. He’s sure to love it.
And, if wood isn’t your thing, or your spouses thing, you might want to go with the modern gift of silverware. This is something that both of you can enjoy any time you sit down at a meal. A really nice silverware set is going to cost a pretty penny, but it’s also going to be something that you and your spouse are going to enjoy for many years to come.
Fifth wedding anniversary gifts are special not only because of the gifts themselves but because of the fact that your fifth anniversary itself is kind of a milestone. And hopefully, if you do go for the silverware set, that set will still be with you when you reach your golden years.
