If you’re still recovering from your wild thirty-fifth anniversary, this year’s anniversary gift idea should give you a little breather from the struggle to find something to get your spouse. The modern day gift idea, which is your only option this year, is bone china. If you need some ideas for this popular gift, we have a few suggestions that should make this year’s anniversary more than memorable.
There are quite a number of things that are made of bone china. The ladies are probably more than familiar with most of them, but for you guys looking to get a nice gift for your wives who may not know bone china from Chinese noodles, we’ll give you a nice little list for you to choose from.
For starters, you can get your wife a nice bone china cup and saucer. Contrary to what you may be thinking, these don’t have to come in boring white. They make bone china cups and saucers in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Some of these come with some very lovely designs on them. If you get a matching set, such as cups, saucers and plates, each one will come with the same design. For example, you can get a nice sailboat design from China Beasts.
The great thing about China Beasts is that you can custom order each item. In other words, if you want, you can specify which pattern you want, the size of the cup or plate and of course, how many you want of each. To make this easy for you, each item is numbered and each pattern is numbered. It’s kind of like an order by numbers set. The problem with this method of picking out your gift is that you don’t get to see what the actual cost is until you’ve specified what you want, since each piece is custom made. The prices do range from ten or twenty dollars to several hundred. Just don’t have a heart attack after placing your order.
Also, if you like, you can get your bone china personally lettered. There is a charge for this and they do charge by the letter. One word of note. You probably don’t want to eat off of these pieces. As nice as they are, the last thing you will want to do is have anything happen to one of them. Bone china does break very easily.
Of course if you want to get some nice bone china gifts that don’t involve dishes that you wouldn’t want to eat off of anyway, you can get a number of items that you won’t find anywhere near the kitchen, like bone china candle holders, vases, statues and even Christmas decorations, including ornaments. You will probably want to keep those on the lower branches of the tree so that don’t have too far to fall should they come loose.
There is no getting around it. Bone china is beautiful and more than worthy of a thirty-sixth anniversary gift. Just make sure you handle with care.
