You’re about to celebrate your twenty-eighth anniversary and you’re thinking to yourself, what can they possibly throw at us now? Well, this year’s modern day offering is something a little different and something that is going to take a lot of thought if you really want to make this gift original, unpredictable and interesting. Otherwise, you’re going to get a very pleasant, “Oh isn’t that nice dear” when you give this gift to your spouse. So it’s time to put on your thinking caps. Don’t worry, you’ll have help.
So just what is the great anniversary gift for anniversary number 28? Well, it just happens to be orchids. That’s right. Orchids. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re going to go out, get an arrangement of orchids and give them to your spouse just so you can hear those wonderful words, “how nice” and roll up in a ball in the corner and die. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Like I said, this is where you have to use a little brain power and a lot of imagination. Just because you have to give your spouse orchids for his or her anniversary doesn’t mean you can’t also give something else in addition to those orchids and still sort of keep within the theme of the occasion. So just how do we pull this off?
Well, for you guys looking for get an anniversary gift for your wife, it’s time to think about what goes good with orchids. Well, jewelry goes with just about anything. But in this case, you don’t want to hand her the arrangement of orchids and then hand her a box of something. No, not at all. What you want to do is go out and get a pair of earrings or a bracelet and put it in a box. Then take the box and place it inside the arrangement. You want to hide it just enough so that she doesn’t see it right away, but with more careful inspection she’ll see that there is something inside. When she finds the box and opens it up, what she should find inside is something very beautiful and very expensive. Come on guys, it’s been 28 years. She’s worth it, isn’t she? She may completely forget about the orchids but she will definitely remember the jewelry.
For you ladies, looking for a gift for your husband, you’re going to basically use the same technique. Yes, I know. Guys, don’t really go for orchids, but wait until he finds what’s inside of his. In your case, jewelry isn’t going to do it. Instead try this. Inside the orchid arrangement, place a nice small little envelope. When he sees the envelope and opens it up what he’s going to find inside are tickets to the next Knicks game, or whatever sport is playing at the time. Tell him he can bring his buddies or anybody he wants. If he’s smart, he’ll take you. That is of course unless sport isn’t your thing. Trust me on this. When he sees those tickets, it’s going to be the last thing he’ll expect and the look on his face will be priceless.
It isn’t hard to get around the restrictions of anniversary gift lists. You just have to use a little imagination.
