Association of Government Accountants

The AGA or Association of Government Accountants is often featured in Government World Magazine. One of the most debated subjects of course being the implementation of Sarbanes Oxley or SOX on government agencies, the association of government accountants is concerned that there is no way it is feasible. In fact most business executives complain that the government from the government printing office to the Department of Homeland Security, would have to be shut down if they were under the strict controls of SOX.
So why did the government impose such impossible restrictions on American Corporations if they themselves could not comply with the insanity of such over regulation? Some believe that it is because the government regulatory agencies are weak, filled with folks who have never had to make a paycheck and are totally inept. While others think it was the morons in the legislature appeasing the mass media hysteria of wide spread corporate fraud, which never existed. In fact the at the time, some feel Democratic Senators proposed the bill to hide their own greed and corruption and wannabe need of self importance and to side with the flow of thought and media trends.
Whatever the case everyone agrees including the Association of Government Accountants that the government could not survive under the SOX rules. I therefore propose since the government cannot seem to do anything right and has grown beyond the needs of the people, that we fully enforce every single rule in SOX and jail those bureaucrats who cannot or will not comply, then shut those agencies down. Small government is beautiful, can you just imagine? No more wasteful spending of taxpayers money and no more piss poor performance from politically patronizing fraudulent factions of fluff. Think about it.
