Dating has become such a successful industry in America because there are 82 million single people in the United States , a full 40% of the adult population.
Those are the statistics that explain the popularity of dating services. Here are three of the hidden reasons about which we hear little.
Dating in Today’s World: 3 Little Know Factors
1. We were all created for relationships - We we created to be relational beings. We were created for and to be in relationships. When I talk with senior singles and/or those that have been single for a long time, many of them have given up trying to find the right person. At the same time, when I ask if there was a way to find the love of your life, every one says yes. This is because we were made for relationships.
Look at it this way - in the Christian view of the world, God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit - God is a relational God and we are relational creatures.
2. We can get incredibly lonely - There are two words to desribe the state of being alone. One is solitude and the other is lonely. While solitude is a necessary and sometimes wonderful thing, being lonely sucks.
3. Most people do not have the skills to date well - To be able to date well, you need four essential skills:
Scouting - - being able to find potential partners.
Sorting - the ability to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Screening - when you are clear on who you are and what you want, you can screen out those that would not be a good fit and screen in those that would be a good fit.
Testing - walking it out in everyday life to see if this is the person you think they are.
