Know Your Man: Comparisons
By: Maria Moratto
“No sacred fane requires us to submit to insult.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“He who allows himself to be insulted deserves to be so; and insolence, if unpunished, increases!” ~ Pierre Corneille
Each person is unique. Comparisons that you make between your man and other men are usually made to degrade him and are therefore, insulting. He doesn’t deserve to be insulted because that will put him in the mood to retaliate and then, problems arise. In some things he is better than other men, in others, he is worse. Comparisons are never kind to anyone involved.
Have you noticed that there are a lot of dissatisfied women who are always comparing their spouses to ex-lovers? This is truly insulting. They are very good at picking every tiny little thing and make a case out of it. The worst case scenario is, of course, a comparison in sex and love-making. Why do men have to go through this? It is aggravating and serves no good purpose. We have no excuse. No one has the right to hurt others.
A good philosophy to live by is: Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others; do not destroy property. Live and learn. I don’t remember from where I got this quote, since I have known it for quite some time. I liked it so much, though, that I made it my philosophy of life. If you wish, feel free to adopt it as well.
A Word of Advice
Ladies: Just don’t; even if it is for the better.
Gents: Never accept a comparison, not for good, not for bad. It is unbecoming and denotes a lack of integrity on both the giver and the receiver of the insult. Also, don’t you go doing it, too.
