Online Dating For Men - Honesty Is Such A Lonely Word !
By: L.K. Reid
As the Billy Joel song says “Honesty Is Such A Lonely Word” plays all to well when it comes to Online Dating. Believe it or not, honesty is actually your key to success in the online dating world.
Take a few moments and think about it. After all, when you decide to take the plunge in the online dating world, your goal is to find the girl that you can feel comfortable with and build a relationship, hopefully leading to long, lasting love. However, you should also remember that the girl on the other end has the same goals and is looking for the same qualities that you are. It goes both ways.
To be successful in the online dating game, you first have to be honest with yourself and your goals. You aren’t searching online dating profiles for a “friend,” you are searching for romance which could lead to a lasting, loving relationship, right?
To be successful in reaching your online dating goals, first and foremost, you need to be truthful and straight forward when creating your online dating profile.
Most men fail miserably at online dating by creating dishonest profiles of what they think women will be attracted to. Silly mistakes such as creating a “perfect appearance” or having the “perfect job.” This approach never works and you will be found out if the relationship happens to proceed to a face-to-face meeting.
What you should do is simple, be honest. Start your online dating profile by summarizing your previous relationship(s). By addressing the questions below, you are painting an honest & truthful picture of yourself to potential partners.
What were the positive aspects of the relationship?
What were the negative aspects of the relationship?
What were the points that attracted you to your previous girlfriend?
What were the unattractive points of your previous girlfriend?
When filling out your online dating profile, once again, be honest. Don’t exaggerate your physique. If you are 5′2″ with a “beer belly” then say so! Lying about your employment is a no no. If your employed as a Janitor making $1500 a month, don’t say that you are a Brain Surgeon making $350,000 a year. Don’t lie about your age either. If you are in your 50’s, don’t say that you are in your late 30’s.
Be true to yourself. After all, your goal is to locate that special someone who likes you for who you are. If you have been dishonest in presenting yourself and later have the chance to meet your potential partner in person, she will 100% believe you are a liar and absolutely can’t be trusted. This is the type of damage that is nearly impossible to repair.
If you are honest with yourself and in presenting yourself online, you have an excellent chance of finding romance through online dating. Good Luck!
