In today’s hectic and fast-paced world, it can be easy to be caught up in the speed of daily living. It seems there is always some message coming at us from somewhere, whether it’s the television, radio, computer, or billboards. A bit of quiet time spent with someone you love can be a great way to add some much-needed downtime and romance into your lives.
One way to add some quiet time as well as intimacy to a relationship is to revisit the lost art of reading aloud. Curling up on a couch in front of a fire with a good book is a great way to spend time together. Further, you can add to the romance and mood by reading some erotica, a good love story, or poetry. There’s just something wonderfully romantic about being read to aloud by someone you love.
What you read is entirely up to you, and can range from a collection of short stories or poems to a lengthy saga that will keep you coming back night after night. Add to the mood by using soft lights or candles, scents, or soft music. A good foot rub is also a great compliment to the scene, and may likely lead to other romance as well.
Consider taking turns reading, or switching who reads each time. You can also take turns choosing what is read to keep the selections agreeable to both of you. Have some hot cocoa or toddies available, cuddle up, and see where the story takes you.
