Put Off til Tomorrow Some of Those Things That You Could Do Today - Breaking The Law of Works

By: Rascal Miles

Go ahead, put off until tomorrow some of those things that you COULD do today.

I’ll bet you’ve never gotten that kind of advice before. I sure never did. LOL

In fact - like most hard workers - it was the old, “NEVER put off until tomorrow those things that you COULD do today” LAW that I attempted to live by.

I say attempted because - often exhausted and finally able to seek sleep - I’d close my eyes only to remember that there WAS something else that I COULD have, SHOULD have, done. ‘ Bummer! ‘ So much for the wonderful review of all that I’d accomplished in my previous awake episode. Yeah, I used to practice that procedure too.

While I’d rarely get back up and DO IT - I’d flagellate myself mentally - until falling asleep. Maybe, I’d turn the lamp on and write IT down so as to be sure and DO IT the next day?

Upon awakening, there IT would be! Good thing that I’d set the pad where I’d be sure to see it, huh? Little or no time was wasted - nor any thought given - as to how important the thing that I should have done yesterday really was. Rather, the important thing was that IT made it onto my today’s TO DO LIST. I lived by my list!

This brief ezine article is my happy reaction to this very “Ungodly” understanding that I’ve just had. LOL

I grew up in a time when many well meaning parents impressed upon their children the importance of being productive.”Lazy” was a four letter word. Probably, it was more nasty than the most - because you could get caught by others doing it instead of only thinking or saying it. While I was caught saying and/or doing other “No..No”s, I was never even accused of being “Lazy.”

My whole active business years were manifestations of my practiced - positive work ethic principles. To the delight of my employers, I’d “Stay after” to finish up my works. As a salesman, I’d make that “One more call’ or “See one more prospect” before “Knocking off.”

Okay, I made many sales, earned extra money, accepted the accolades that accompany - yet are predicated, even contingent, upon - THE LAW OF HARD WORK. Now , I see that it is really a “Sell-out.”

Jesus said, (NASB) Matthew 11:30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

My work yoke was never easy. If I lighted, it was briefly. Like a honeybee, I lighted only long enough to gather up some more pollen which had to be returned to the all important hive.

‘(NASB) Luke 12:27 “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.’

Having just considered them, I think that I’ll rather enjoy life more as a Lilly than I have as a busy bee. LOL

Well, there is that law that suggests, “If a man does not work, then he should not eat.” Right? ‘(NASB) 2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.’

I don’t know about you, reader, but I do carry on a running commentary in my head with The lord. I’m into one now. Fortunately, He helps me to rightly divide the Word of God.

‘(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’

“LOL. It’s the word of ‘Truth’ that needs to be divided, huh? Isn’t that kinda like the difference between what people call, the letter of the law and the spirit of the law?” Obviously, I’m talking with The Lord.

“Exactly, Rascal,” The Lord answered me. “Now, back to what you were asking me about work and your ‘Right understanding’ of wanting to live life like a Lilly rather than a honeybee. My Apostle, Paul, had a few problems with the work ethic from time to time too - but I eventually helped him too to get through it,” The Lord informed me with a chuckle in my head.

“As I told my other Apostles and companions that were with me before I called Paul to be an Apostle,
‘(NASB) Luke 12:28 “But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! 29 “And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 “For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. 31 “But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.’ Do you clearly see that now Rascal?”

“Yes, Sir. I think that I do,” I replied. “What you’re saying, Lord, is that ‘Work’ - as we know it - is actually living under ‘The Law’. Is that right?

“Yes,” He replied. “Do you remember when you used to confess the ‘(NKJV) Psalms 90:17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands’, before you went to find prospects?” He asked me.

“Yes, I do Lord,” I answered. “You always led me to the people who had a need for whatever product or service I was selling.”

“Of course I did, Rascal. Because you had faith that I would. But you wouldn’t have had to work so hard if you hadn’t been confessing that Psalm 90 prayer of my man, Moses.”

‘(CEV) Galatians 3:5 God gives you his Spirit and works miracles in you. But does he do this because you obey the Law of Moses or because you have heard about Christ and have faith in him?’

“Okay, I get it…” I said. “Why didn’t you tell me that then, Lord?”

“Because, Rascal, you were all tied up by those ‘Work ethics’ - as you call them. You wouldn’t have heard me. That’s why I’m telling you now.”

‘(CEV) Galatians 2:16 But we know that God accepts only those who have faith in Jesus Christ. No one can please God by simply obeying the Law. So we put our faith in Christ Jesus, and God accepted us because of our faith.’

“Of course, You’re right. Most of the people that read this article won’t want to hear this either, Lord.”

“That’s none of your concern, Rascal. Just publish this ezine article and those who have ears to hear… let them hear. I got a few waiting who need to hear his. They are suffering condemnation at the hard hands of some well meaning family members and some so-called friends as we speak.”

“Okay, Lord. I’ll wrap this one up and submit it to the editors. And thank you for the Revelation.”

“You’re welcome,” the Lord said. “But Rascal, don’t put this off until tomorrow. You can do it right now…”
