Rape Is Rape

When a woman rapes a child it is called sexual conduct with a person younger then 16. When a man rapes a child it is called rape, sexual assault or molestation, even when the act is consensual.
Recently Laura L. Findley a former middle school band teacher admitted to having sex with 6 male students (foxnews.com). She entered into a plea agreement that called for a sentence of up to 7 years (The judge could sentence her to life).
Where’s the outcry? This monster deserves to be treated like the awful human being that she is. If this were a male teacher, her name would be splashed all over the news and not in a little sidebar headline on foxnews.com.
Where’s CNN.com? That poor excuse for news would have made this the top story for the next two days if it was a male teacher.
Our society seems to accept an adult woman having sex with a child but is repulsed when a man does it. If it were a man, do you think prosecutors would settle for a seven year sentence?
Of course not. This woman is a serial rapist by her own admission. She raped 6 boys. She is a predator and should be punished accordingly.
I would also like to see the media report more on this story. We need America to see her photo and story everywhere possible.
This is not the first story of a woman raping her young male students. In each case the legal system and society seem to feel sorry for these women and give them ridiculously light sentences.
I hope the judge in this case has some decency and sees this criminal for what she is and sentences her to life in prison.
We need to send a message to all adults that taking advantage of impressionable children will not be tolerated.
This woman was a teacher and in a position where youngsters could look up to. Instead of teaching them the value of music, she physically taught six students sex education.
Our nation needs to have consistent laws for both men and women when it comes to sexual assault or statutory rape. Both men and women should be treated equally.
