Taking Pictures or Helping Victims

Have you ever noticed that whenever there is an event or disaster that there is always someone nearby with a video camera to get the whole thing? This makes sense because more and more people carry handheld electronic devices. Have you also noticed that the photographer or videotape holder often keep rolling as people need assistance around them rather than helping others? Instead of helping or aiding their fellow man the keep taping until they run out of tape or the battery pack runs out. Then they run to the nearest phone and call guess who? CNN or the National News Stations to sell the tape for $10,000 to $40,000; does anyone have a problem with this?
Why do people do this? Why can’t people come to the aid of their fellow man in their time of need? What would you do? Would you hand your camera to your spouse and run and help? Would you quickly call out to all males around you and call them to action and quickly organize and take action? Would you run away? Would you first secure your family away from harm and gather with others to provide assistance of any kind you were capable of until first responders showed up? Would you be on your cell phone calling in the problem immediately and then run in? What will you do when you are in this situation?
Today we witnessed another International Terrorist event in London. A day after they received their confirmation to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and during the G-8 summit in nearby Scotland hosted by Tony Blair. We witnessed heroes and strong leadership. We also witnessed unfortunately opportunists with video cameras, who were taping while women and children walked by coughing, bleeding and smoke stained clothes ready to collapse. Yet we did not see these vide tape folks helping, only filming? Why? What kind of a person would do that? What kind of a person are you?
