Taliban is Winning - Part 1
By: Kelly Lopez
In wake of September 11, President Bush vowed to get rid of Taliban from this world. Tony Blair reiterated that Taliban is out there to harm whoever believes in our way of life. Fast forward four years, July 2005 London was rocked at its heart. The explosions in the tube testify what was known to everybody that every city in this world is vulnerable no matter it is the citadel of the mightiest.
The vocabulary is in fashion again – we will hunt them down till the last corner of the earth, we won’t rest in peace till we get rid of these tugs and evil doers.
None has time to think what exactly Taliban stands for. What is it that four British young men so easily gave up the life we all cherish. How far have we traveled in these four years to eradicate Taliban from this planet.
Taliban is not an organization which was formed to rule the dusty mountains of Afghanistan, but it is an ideology which perpetuated against the communists fueled by the god blessed conservative Americans under the leadership of Ronald Reagan.
The whole ideology is based on three principles – most rudimentary to human civilization.
1. Rule over people by the will of God.
2. Man is supreme creature on earth and his power exudes from controlling women.
3. Jealously over holding mythological beliefs over scientific truths.
Justification of violence to achieve the ends and utter disregard for other’s belief made it look more barbarians.
So do we have any success in these four years to overcome the threat posed by the Taliban. Is the world free of the ideology or is it moving towards eradicating it. As per George Bush and Tony Blair freedom is on March but is it the real truth.
