The Pros And Cons Of A Las Vegas Wedding Part 1

By: Marilyn Taylor

Today I’m going to talk about some of the pros and cons of a Las Vegas wedding. Although I’m a big fan of them I also know that they aren’t for everyone. So hopefully I will be able to help you make the best decision for you and your partner.

One of the biggest pros for a Las Vegas wedding is that it’s cheap. You can’t get much cheaper than a Vegas wedding. $50 or less for your marriage license, $50 to pay for a few witnesses, and $100 or so to book the chapel and the ministers time, and you’re good to go. I don’t think there’s many other places in the world where you can get married for around $200.

A by-product of a Vegas wedding being cheap, however, is something I like to call “conveyor belt mentality”. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. If you have a cheap Las Vegas wedding, then you may feel like you’re being rushed. And your feelings are probably true, because there’s always going to be another wedding party right outside, waiting till you’re finished so they can get married. Some people don’t like this, some people see it as part of the charm of a Vegas wedding. Either way, it isn’t going to change unless you pay top dollar for a high quality wedding package.

But another pro for a Las Vegas wedding is the fact that you can get married VERY quickly. Nowhere else can you get married at the speed of a Vegas wedding. You don’t need blood tests to get married, just a marriage license. And these are available for $50 from numerous places in Las Vegas.

In some parts of Vegas, you can even have a walk-in wedding. It’s true that many people decide to get married on a whim when they come to Vegas.

One of the cons of a Las Vegas wedding is that you don’t have much chance for planning. If you’re the kind of person who has always dreamed of planning your wedding down to the last detail, then forget about having a Las Vegas wedding right now.

Vegas specialise in wedding packages, where no planning is needed. However, if you pay a little more for your Vegas wedding, you will have more choices available to you.

I hope these pros and cons have given you a better idea of whether a Las Vegas wedding is something you should consider. And stay tuned for part 2 of this article…
