Three Areas To Look For Help

By: Lynn Bradley

There are so much evil and violence in this world. Many are trapped by it and are desperate for help. We can help offset the turmoil by giving assistance to others. We should accept help when we need it and help others when we can. This article may be published if the resource box is left unaltered.

Sometimes life throws us a curve that we cannot handle. When there is no solution is sight, we need assistance. Everyone needs help sometimes. There are three areas that we can turn to.

There are many people in the world, who have run up against a stone wall. They have tried everything they have at their disposal and have lost all hope. Some are addicted to drugs, or alcohol, others are over their head in debt and some are starving or have other problems.

One area to look for help is inside your own heart. If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol or helplessly in debt you need to stop the self destruction. You need to stop drinking or taking drugs, or if in debt, you need to stop spending money you don’t have. You need to start eliminating debts, the largest first.

Whatever the situation that has caused you to be desperate, the decision to take action must come from inside you. No one else can initiate it. They might advise us to do it, but it will not happen until you tell yourself you have to do it. Life will not get any better until you turn things around.

After you realize, you need to take action, it brings you to another area to look for help. You can seek help from others. Those addicted to alcohol or drugs can go to a detox center. Alcoholics can also check in with Alcoholics Anonymous or other such institutions. If you are helplessly in debt, you need to be careful where you seek help. Check out institutions that claim they can pay off all your bills and give you one easy payment each month. Some of them may take advantage of your situation and charge high rates. Compare several places and ask for references. After you start one of these programs, don’t get into any
more debt, or you will be in worse shape than before. Also, inquire about other options.

Those who don’t have enough finances for necessities can turn to the Red Cross, churches, and other places that help the needy. Sometimes unfortunate circumstances beyond your control put you in such a situation and you should not be ashamed to ask for help. Everyone deserves help when they need it. If you are in that situation, you need to take action.

Babies know where to look for help. They look to their mother when they are hungry. Dogs that have their leash tied to an object, often walk around it until they are tangled up and can’t move. They don’t know to retrace their steps, but they know to look to their master to get unstuck. A Bumble bee that gets into the bottom of a glass will look for a way out near the bottom, but does not know to look up to find freedom. Some people are like the bumble bee. They don’t realize they can look up for help.

This brings us to another area to look for help. You can look above. You have a God who has promised to supply all your needs. All you have to do is ask. My help comes from the Lord (PS 121:2). He will see to it that your work will supply your necessities. If you cannot work, he will send help through compassionate believers. You just have to trust him and obey his commands.

The birds of the air do not sow or reap but your heavenly father feeds them, and are you not more valuable than they are? God clothes the grass of the field, will he not much more clothe you (MT 6:26-30)? These are the words of Jesus. You can be sure that looking above will bring relief.

Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things (COL 3:2). This will permit you to see beyond your problems, and have a different perspective. You will be given the peace of mind to solve your problems one at a time without fearing failure.
