Where does the wedding cake topper monogram trend come from – and how do you know if a wedding cake topper monogram is the right choice for your wedding?
Monograms have been around for centuries. They were often used by monarchs on items related to their kingdom, and may even have been used by the Greeks and Romans in ancient times.
These days, monograms are a very formal symbol, often used by wealthy business men on their clothing, briefcases, and other personal items. They can be seen as a sign of wealth, prestige, and luxury.
However, when used on a wedding cake, monograms don’t have to be stuffy.
Some monogram wedding cake toppers are definitely on the formal side. Simple gold and silver toned scrolled letters and classic fonts are the most formal options – especially when placed in the traditional wedding monogram with the bride’s initial on the left, the groom’s on the right, and the new last initial in the center.
But there are more playful styles and combinations. You could try smaller letters with swirls and curly-q’s for a more whimsical wedding cake topper monogram. You could also take a departure from the classic monogram pattern by using the bride and groom’s first initials and an ampersand, or perhaps just the new last initial.
You could even use the letters sold for cake topper monograms to build a custom message like “love,” “joy,” or even “xoxo.” Whatever means the most to you!
