Wedding Planning

By: Lorna Mclaren

There have been a number of films about people involved in Wedding Planning and it seems to be an extremely lucrative business that also ends up with the wedding planner becoming part of the ceremony – much to the shock of the jilted party!

I am not suggesting that everyone involved in Wedding Planning is out to steal the bride or groom but the subject did make for some amusing moments.

Wedding Planning is, of course, an extremely serious business. The stress involved in coordinating the venues, outfits, flowers, catering and all the other aspects of the big day can be too much for the couple to undertake themselves and they will gladly pay vast sums of money to professional wedding planning services to ensure everything goes smoothly.

However, you can perform your own wedding planning if you are well organised and plan everything in advance. The key is to enlist the help of any friends and family members to assist you with the wedding planning.

Another good piece of advice is to begin your wedding planning well ahead of the wedding day. Really, planning a couple of years ahead is not unheard of. Sit down together and make a list of all of the aspects that are involved, right down to who will do the clearing up at the end of the reception when the newlyweds are off on their honeymoon.

If you build in a few provisions to cope with unexpected glitches you can become wedding planning experts with no professional training and be guaranteed a great day without the danger of the wedding planner running off with the bride!

    Wedding Planning

    By: Ashlee Williams

Getting into the feel of planning for your great day! Fun, isn’t it?

Well, now it’s necessary to decide who will be in your wedding party. Your Maid or Matron (if married) of honor and the groom’s best man. These two people are the bride and grooms right hand helpers throughout the day. Usually a good friend or a relative fill these spots.

How many bridesmaids do you want? There is no set rule ~ you can have as many as twelve if you wish. The traditional number is four. If you’re planning a small informal wedding a maid or matron of honor is all you need to hold your bouquet and the groom’s ring if you’re having a double ring ceremony.

Ushers? There should be one usher for every fifty guests at the wedding.

Want Junior Members in the Wedding? They’re usually young girls between ten and fifteen, who would be thrilled to be in your wedding.

A flower girl? She’s usually under six years old and throws rose petals in the bride’s path as she walks down the aisle.

Want a ring bearer? Usually a young boy under six, but he should be a responsible child. His job is to carry a satin or velvet pillow with both wedding rings attached.

After you decide who you want in your wedding party, call each of them personally and ask them to be a part of your wedding. They’ll be thrilled that you asked them!!

Now is the time to start shopping for your wedding rings. Do you want a double ring ceremony, where the bride and groom exchange rings with each other; otherwise only the bride receives a wedding band? Gold is the traditional metal, but the choice is up to the bridal couple. Some bands also have diamonds in them.

Now you should start asking around about photographers ~ maybe your friend had a great one at their wedding or you thought your sister’s wedding album was beautiful. Give several of them a call and question their wedding pictures and prices. Probably they will ask you to pay a visit and then show you some of their work and their albums. Do you like it? Do you like the photograher as a person? Don’t forget you have to work with him.

How long do you expect the photographer to spend at your wedding? How many photos do you want taken ~ formal or candid? What about the album ~ how many pictures, what size, how many proofs, any formal pictures? Can extra pictures be ordered and what’s the cost?

Is the photographer available on the date and location of your wedding? Many are booked a year or more in advance. Does he have an assistant or does he work alone? Does he have a backup camera? Will he use both color and black and white films? Will he be available for shooting pictures before the ceremony?

Before signing a contract, get the following in writing:

How many rolls of black and white and colored films are to be used?

Type of Film and cost of additional film

Complete package deal ~ number of proofs, when you can pick them up, how long you can keep them, when youi’ll receive your pictures, total cost, reorder cost and refund policy.

How much you need to put down as a deposit? Check all his figures. When is the final payment due?

Hint ~ The photographer will be a very expensive part of your wedding, so think carefully before signing up for all those extra pictures. Refer to your budget and stick to it if possible!!!

    Wedding Planning

    By: Reb Whit

Preparing for your wedding should be one of the most joyous occasions of you life. Wedding planning involves a lot even for the smaller celebrations. Being organized from the start and knowing your wants and your budget can be the key to minimizing the stress involved in planning such an event. In this article, we will aim to give you some tips to successfully plan your wedding and make it an occasion for all to enjoy.

One of the first rules of wedding planning is to set your own ground rules. Family and friends often get excited with the idea of a wedding and can quite often take over. Be firm and make sure you express what you want. Remember, it’s your big day not theirs. And relatives, although well meaning can ruin your wedding if you let them.

Once you have your ground rules established, then family and friends can be a huge help. Everyone has talents so find out what your family and friends are capable of and use them in your wedding planning. This takes some of the burden off of you and lets your loved ones get involved.

Finally, knowing your budget is key to good wedding planning. Generally, your budget will determine the size and how many you can invite. Know your budget and stick to it. It is really easy to get carries away in the excitement and end up with a wedding that you are still paying for on your 50th wedding anniversary. Know how much you can spend and prioritize. Perhaps you don’t need 12 attendants and a 12 tiered cake. It depends on you and what you view as important.

Your wedding should be the happiest day of your life. Wedding planning can be both stressful and rewarding but is always necessary. Remember; get organized by setting your ground rules, involving friends and family where possible and knowing your budget and sticking to it. By following these simple rules, you will be well on your way to having the wedding you always dreamed of with a minimal amount of hassle. Your family and friends can share in this experience with you so get organized and have a great day.
